New Moon Is Top Of Box Office Down Under

New Moon continues to be a huge success at the box office after it toppled 2012 in Australia.

New Moon is the second movie in the Twilight Saga series and sees Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart return as lovers Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.

The movie has already grossed over $274 million at the global box office this weekend and comfortably saw off all the competition down under taking $16 million.

2012 slipped one place to number two while A Christmas Carol continues to put in a strong performance holding onto the number three spot.

The Time Travler's Wife dropped two places to four while Clive Owen's latest film The Boys are Back, which is released in the UK in the new year, held onto the fifth spot.

There was just one other new entry inside the top ten in the form of the new Coen brothers movie A Serious Man.
