The 'An Education' writer wants to work in the writing, music and film industries and is glad to have had the opportunity to do so.

He said: "I want to do as much different stuff in as many different media as I can.

I have a column writing about books because I like having something finished that comes out every month.

Nick - who wrote the screenplay for 'An Education', which is nominated for Best Picture and Best Actress for Carey Mulligan at the Oscars - also wants to work with Rod Stewart.

Nick, 52, told the USA Today newspaper: "I'd love to get a hold of Rod Stewart and tell him what he should be singing, and with what bands.

"But then he'd say, 'Why? I churn out album after album and millions of people buy them. So why would I want to go your way, which presumably would result in no sales?' "
