Kidman Bidding for Asylum Novel Film Rights

Nicole Kidman is competing for the film rights to a novel about an asylumseeker as she is desperate to play the lead in a screen adaptation.
The Other Hand by British author Chris Cleave tells the story of a 14-year-old African who visits the U.K. in search of an English widow called Sarah.
According to British newspaper The Sunday Times, Kidman recently read the novel on a flight between Los Angeles and Australia and is so eager to play the role of Sarah that she is competing with a number of film studios to secure the film rights to the book.
The last time Australia-born Kidman played an English woman she scoopedan Oscar for best actress for her portrayal of novelist Virginia Woolf in The Hours.
