Oprah Winfrey Not Hostin 2012 Oscars

Oprah Winfrey will not be hosting the 2012 Academy Awards according to Oscar boss Tom Sherak.

Online rumors posted on Friday (08Jul11) suggested Winfrey was in talks to take on the big awards show, but Sherak, the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, insists he hasn't even chosen a producer for the telecast yet.

He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "It's not true, and I don't know where that story even came from.
 
"You have to remember how it works. First, I have to hire a producer, and then the producer comes to the Academy with suggestions for the host. So how could we have a host without a producer?"
 
The 84th annual Academy Awards will take place in February (12).
