Production on a film adaptation of John Milton's classical poem Paradise Lost has been shut down due to budget constraints.
Bradley Cooper was to lead the cast as Lucifer in the Biblical tale, but Legendary Pictures bosses have axed the film over costing concerns.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, studio bosses feared the $120 million (?75 million) budget would not cover the special effects technology required to bring the epic to the big screen.
Djimon Hounsou, Casey Affleck, Camilla Belle and Rufus Sewell were all set to star in director Alex Proyas' movie.
