Patty Jenkins has been announced as the director for Thor 2.
The filmmaker has been linked to the movie for several weeks after Kenneth Branagh confirmed that he would not be returning for a sequel.
Jenkins is best know for helming Monster, the movie that brought Charlize Theron a Best Actress Oscar, but this will be her first big budget blockbuster project.
Filming is expected to get underway next year with Chris Hemsworth returning to the title role.
He will be back as Thor next year as The Avengers hits the big screen - bringing together Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk and Hawkeye.
Thor 2 is scheduled for a summer 2013 release.
