Paul Greengrass is set to direct the real life piracy tale of a man kidnapped by Somali pirates in 2009.

Paul Greengrass is in talks to direct pirate movie 'A Captain's Duty'.

The 'Green Zone' filmmaker would work with Tom Hanks on the real-life project about merchant-vessel sailor Richard Phillips, who was taken hostage by Somali pirates in 2009 and ended up the subject of a daring rescue by US Navy SEALS.

Bosses at Sony Pictures are keen to get him so sign up quickly, with Tom Hanks being available in the autumn when he has finished work on 'Cloud Atlas', Vulture blog reports.

However, it is not the only option Paul may work on as he has also been offered a directorial job on 'Rush', about the world of Formula One racing and Niki Lauda's near-fatal season in 1976, written by 'The Queen' scriptwriter Peter Morgan.

It was revealed recently Paul was a frontrunner to direct Angelina Jolie in a new version of 'Cleopatra'.

Producer Scott Rudin said Sony Pictures 3-D were keen to sign him up for the project, although the idea had reportedly not been discussed with the Oscar-winning actress.
