Philip Seymour Hoffman could still be in line to play The Penguin in the next Batman movie after a mock-up image of him as the villain was released online.

A source claims the computer enhanced picture was created by studio Warner Brothers to see what the star - who has previously denied he has been approached about the role despite strong rumours - would look like as Batman's deformed nemesis.

The creepy image - posted on ComingSoon.net - depicts Hoffman as pale and bald with a misshapen nose and ears.

The actor has previously said he would not be interested in the role if it was offered to him.

He said: "I'm more a fan, so the interest of being in it isn't that great. It's more the interest in wanting to see the next one. It's probably better that way.

"I don't know if I'd be a good Penguin to be quite honest."
