Quentin Tarantino plans to make a prequel to 'Inglourious Basterds'.

The cult movie director is so certain his latest blockbuster will be a success, he has already drafted the script for a prequel.

He said: "I have a half-written prequel ready to go if this movie's a smash."

Tarantino has also revealed his childhood movie ideas - which he says were often based on the Klu Klux Klan - have greatly influenced his script writing.

I have a half-written prequel ready to go if this movie's a smash.

He explained to the New York Times newspaper: "It's all the same. Once the Basterds get through with Europe, they could go to the South and do it to the Kluxers in the 50s. That's another story you could tell."

The highly anticipated action movie - which stars Brad Pitt, Eli Roth and Samuel L. Jackson - is about Jewish-American soldiers known as The Basterds, who are chosen to scalp and kill Nazis in France during World War II.

Eli recently said he thinks the violent storyline will be the director's greatest cinematic effort to date.

He said: "This movie has the intensity of 'Reservoir Dogs,' the style of 'Pulp Fiction', the violence of 'Kill Bill', the adrenaline of 'Death Proof' and the characters of 'Jackie Brown.' It's really the greatest of Quentin's talents, all culminating in this film."

'Inglourious Basterds' is due for release from August this year.
