Rainn Wilson will star in 'Transformers 2'.Wilson - who plays Dwight Schrute in the American version of 'The Office' - will play a professor in the forthcoming action sequel, which is due for release in June 2009.Although details of Wilson's part are yet to be released, the actor has joked he will play "a professor that turns into a car that turns into a robot."It has already been confirmed that Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Voight and Peter Cullen will be reprising their roles in the film, while Australian actress Isabel Lucas will be joining the cast.Jonah Hill was offered a role as Shia LaBeouf's roommate but turned it down, saying he wanted to do more comedies first.He said: I just think like I have to prove myself more in what I'm doing now, making comedies and stuff before I do the big action movie or something, you know? I'm not proven yet."It was very cool of them but I thought I should make some more comedies first."I love the Transformers movies and Transformers was one of my favourite shows from when I was a kid. I think it's going to be an awesome movie. Unfortunately, I'm not in it."
Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are returning as director and executive producer respectively.
To ensure the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike did not delay the film, Bay wrote a 60-page 'template' for it himself.
He said: "The strike was a drag. But I like to write myself. So I wrote 60 pages."
