Rango saw off the challenge from The Adjustment Bureau and Unknown to take the top spot at the UK box office.

The movie sees Johnny Depp, who voices the title character, team up with Pirates of the Caribbean filmmaker Gore Verbinski for this animation movie that set in the American West.

Rango is an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff.

The movie took £1.6 million this weekend to take the top spot, Rango is also the #1 movie in America.

It was all about new entries in the top three this week as The Adjustment Bureau opened with £1.3 million in second.

Lim Neeson was also back on the big screen with his new movie Unknown but that had to settle for third with £1.3 million.

Paul slipped two places from two to four while The King's Speech moved up one place back into the top five - all of those top five  movies broke £1 million this weekend.

Gnomeo & Juliet fell five places from last week's number one to number six while I Am Number Four was also down as it dropped four spots to seven.

Oscar nominee True Grit was up once to number eight while West Is West was also up, moving from ten to nine.

Yogi Bear was this week's biggest faller as it dropped six places from last week's number four to round off the top ten.
