Ricky Gervais can't stop asking his friends to appear in his work.

The 'Invention of Lying' star - who appears in the movie alongside Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Christopher Guest and Jonah Hill - finds it "thrilling" when people agree to star in movies he has written.

He said: "It's thrilling to call your friends and ask them to be in your movie. Even better is when you get a quick yes. It makes you want to pick up the phone one more time and ask someone else. That's the truth."

Jason insists it was easy for him to accept the role without even seeing a script.

He told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper: "I have a very small part but the minute you hear it's Ricky Gervais on the phone, it's just a case of, 'Tell me when and where to show up.' I didn't even really ask him about the script because I knew it would be good."
