Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are to co-star in 'Blue Valentine'.

The 'Lars and the Real Girl' actor and the 'Brokeback Mountain' actress will play a married couple who are try to halt the break-down of their relationship by remembering the early days of their romance in the forthcoming drama.

Blue Valentine' will also feature 'Cloverfield' star Mike Vogel, US actor John Doman and Maryann Plunkett.

The independent film will be directed by 'Shattered Glass' director Derek Cianfrance who also wrote the script with Cami Delavigne and Joey Curtis.

Production of the movie is currently underway in New York and Pennsylvania.

This will be Ryan's second collaboration with the team of producers - Alex Orlovsky, Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell - after previously teaming with them for his Oscar-nominated performance on 'Half Nelson'.

'Blue Valentine' is due to be released in 2010.
