The movie will see him work alongside Denzel Washington as a CIA agent, Washington is set to take on the role of the criminal in the film.
Reynolds already has a busy schedule as he is set to being filming The Change Up with Jason Bateman in October.
So work on Safe house is expected to get underway early next year. before he has a decision to make on his next project.
2010 has been another busy year for the actor as he completed work on Buried before taking on another blockbuster role with Green Lantern.
Reynolds is still linked to a Deadpool movie as well as R.I.P.D, which would see him take on the role of a dead police office.
Also a Green Lantern sequel could be on the horizon of the first movie enjoys box office success when it is released next year.
