Ryan Reynolds is to star in 'Motorcade'.

The 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' actor is reportedly in talks to take the lead role in the action movie, playing a disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time when the US president is kidnapped in New York.

Tom Cruise was originally attached to the movie, but opted out of it to take on a role opposite Cameron Diaz in 'Wichita' instead.

'24' director Jon Cassar is helming the movie for DreamWorks, replacing 'Live Free or Die Hard' filmmaker Len Wiseman, who was originally slated to direct.

Billy Ray is rewriting the script first penned by Hans Bauer and Craig Mitchell.

It is believed the film will start shooting next summer after Ryan has completed work on 'The Green Hornet'.
