A California judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed against funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen over an alleged altercation, which occurred on the set of his hit film Bruno.

In 2009, Richelle Olson launched a legal battle against Cohen, claiming she fell and hit her head while trying to kick the actor and his movie crew out of a charity bingo game in Lancaster, California.

Olson initially allowed the group to roll cameras during the event she organises, but she changed her mind when the actor, who played a gay fashionista in the film, began making cheeky references to his homosexual relationships each time a number was called.

And on Monday (12Sep11) the District Court of Appeals thew out the case because the funnyman was ruled to be exercising his right to free speech when the mishap occurred, according to the Associated Press.

The unscripted scene was not included in the final cut of the film.

Meanwhile, Cohen is currently locked in another ongoing legal battle -  Palestinian grocer Ayman Abu Aita filed a $110 million (GBP73 million) defamation lawsuit against the actor after he was described him as a "terrorist group leader" in the film.
