Sandra Bullock agreed to star in 'All About Steve' because her character doesn't end up with the man of her dreams.
The 45-year-old actress - who plays crossword fanatic and occasional stalker Mary Horowitz in the comedy - hates typical love stories where the female protagonist is only happy when she's got a boyfriend.
The brunette beauty said: "This isn't a romantic comedy. Why should it be? It's just as loving, funny and unique without needing her to end up with the guy, and that's the reason I made the film.
I complete me. I just got lucky that, after I completed myself, I met someone who could tolerate me.
"Why does Mary Horowitz have to end up with the guy to be a complete woman, but we don't do that to men?
"Why do we always have to end up being the woman who, thankfully, gets the guy? She could have had Steve, if she wanted. She just didn't want any more of that."
Sandra hopes the role will teach young actresses that you don't have to play the predictable bimbo to be successful.
She explained: "If I can do anything in this time of my career, I want to make it easier for other actresses and girls who are growing up to go, 'I get to be a part of a movie without having to wind up with someone to complete us.'
"I complete me. I just got lucky that, after I completed myself, I met someone who could tolerate me."
