Filmmaker Martin Scorsese has confirmed he is reuniting with Robert De Niro for the first time since the 1995 crime classic, Casino.
Rumours sparked earlier this year after the pair were in talks to star in their ninth collaboration.
They added fuel to the fire at a BAFTA A Life in Pictures question and answer session earlier this month when the legendary filmmaker revealed they are set to start shooting The Irishman in 2011.
The film will focus on Frank 'The Irishman' Sheeran, a union official who turns mafia hitman.
Scorsese added that the screenplay will be penned by Gangs of New York writer Steve Zallian, according to Digital Spy.
Scorsese and De Niro have previously teamed up for a string of iconic movies, including Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas.
