Sean Penn Returning To Director's Chair

Sean Penn is to step back behind the camera to direct Robert De Niro in The Comedian.
 
The Oscar winner, who last directed a film in 2007 when he took charge of Into The Wild, will adapt Art Linson and Jeffrey Ross' screenplay about a comic sentenced to community service for lashing out at a heckler.
 
Shooting is scheduled to begin next spring (12) and will also feature Kristen Wiig.

Penn has been concentrating on his acting in recent years after receiving an Oscar for Milk in 2009.

This year he has starred in The Tree of Life and Fair Game with This Must Be The Place being his latest project.

He is currently filming Gangster Squad, which also stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Josh Brolin.
