Seann William Scott says people treat him like his character in 'American Pie'.

The actor - who played the obnoxious Stifler in three of the teen comedy films - says fans struggle to understand he is nothing like his onscreen counterpart.

He added: I guess it would be cool

He said: "I walk down the street and someone's like, 'Hey we'll buy you a shot.' And I'm like, 'No, I'm OK.' They're so crushed, like 'What? But you were in 'American Pie'' I say, 'It's a movie.'"

The star - who voices characters in the upcoming 'Ice Age 3' and 'Planet 51' - also said it would be "cool" to date a "super-hot actress".

He added: "I guess it would be cool. But I really have no desire to because they're all nuts anyway.

"Anyway, I'm a pretty private guy so if I was going out with Britney Spears you wouldn't find out about it from me."
