"It's great to be sharing the nominations with so many of our Cast and Crew."

The BIFA nominations follow a successful and exciting few months; after its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September, Michael Fassbender won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor and it has since played to critical acclaim at the Telluride, Toronto, New York and London International Film Festivals. Shame will be released in the UK and Ireland on 13 January 2012.

Brandon (Michael Fassbender) is a 30-something man living comfortably in New York balancing a busy job and active social life.

When the wayward Sissy (Carey Mulligan), turns up at his apartment unannounced, Brandon’s carefully managed lifestyle spirals out of control.

Shame is a compelling and timely examination of the nature of need, how we live our lives and the experiences that shape us.

Shame will be released across the UK and Ireland on 13 January 2012.
