Sharlto Copley relished the opportunity to play H. M. 'Howling Mad' Murdock on 'The A-Team' as he was allowed to improvise.
Sharlto Copley loved having the chance to improvise on 'The A-Team'.
The South African star - who plays unpredictable helicopter pilot H. M. 'Howling Mad' Murdock in the film - reveals he was keen to play a starring role because he was given the freedom to ad-lib when he wanted.
He told BANG Showbiz: "There was a huge amount of improvisation. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to do the movie. I spoke to the director Joe Carnahan and sent him the things that I'd made in my hotel room and he was just really comfortable in that world. Bradley and Quinton in particular are amazing improvisers."

The 36-year-old actor - who rose to fame on alien drama movie 'District 9' - also admits he had to tap into himself as a teenager to play the eccentric character.
He said: "People that sort of interested me were people who were doing different characters like Robin Williams, Dwight Schultz and Eddie Murphy. Jim Carrey. There was a type of fascination I had from a very early age doing different characters. Actually, because I wasn't pursuing acting as a career I had sort of slacked off on it. So from 10 to 19 years old I used to do different caricatures. To play Murdock I kind of got back into that."
