Simon Pegg admits that he was left with an agonising choice when he discovered that he two roles he had landed parts in were shooting at the same time.

Pegg had given the role of Lt Archie Hicox in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds but was forced to turn it down to appear in Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

Speaking to the News of the World the actor said: "It was a horrible decision to make. I remember sitting on my own in a hotel room for an hour, having to decide which one to do.

"It was agony."

While the role of Hicox went to Michael Fassbender, Pegg joined Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis and Nick Frost on Spielberg's adaptation of the popular cartoon series.

Pegg is back on the big screen this week with his new movie Burke and Hare, which sees him team up with Serkis, and has already completed work on comedy Paul.

And it's set to be a busy few months for the actor as he is currently filming Mission Impossible IV while has also has a Star Trek sequel in the pipeline.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn will be released in 2011.
