Russell Crowe and Helen Mirren's political thriller State of Play has toppled animation Monsters vs Aliens to take the top spot at the UK box office.
The Kevin McDonald movie, which is based on the hit BBC drama of the same name grossed £1.5 million in it's opening weekend. The film follows a Washington reporter who attempts to discover the truth behind the death of a congressman's mistress.
Monster vs Aliens had to settle for the number two spot, after returning to number one last week while Fast & Furious fell one place to number three.
17 Again also fell one place to four, the top four movies all broke the £1 million barrier, while comedy I Love You, Man rounded off the top five.
Satirical comedy In the Loop, a spin off of BBC comedy The Thick of It, was the only film to climb in this week's chart moving from eight to six.
The Uninvited and Observe and Report were the only other new entries at seven and eight respectfully.
The Boat That Rocked was this week's biggest faller dropping four places from six to ten.
