Steven Soderbergh has defended Ocean's Twelve claiming that it's his favourite in the trilogy of movies.
The movie, which saw George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts all return to unexpected franchise, was critically mauled when it was released back in 2004.
Despite the lack of critical support the movie grossed $351 at the global box office, which was down on it's predecessor.
Speaking to the Metro the filmmaker said: The thing with the Ocean's films - and before you say anything, I actually like Ocean's Twelve most of all - is that even though we had lots of movie stars, we figured out how it'd work economically from the outset.
"The first would cost $89 million, the second $120 million, and third $120 million."
"Actually, it's not often that I come across commercial material that I feel I could do and which could potentially reach a wide audience.
"I'm not really a fantasy film person. The Ocean's films are as close to Spider-Man as I can get.'
Soderbergh and co reunited one more time in 2007 for Ocean's Thirteen which was met with more praise by the critics but didn't do as well at the box office as the two movies that came before it.
