Earlier this week Covent garden was brought to a standstill as young student staged a knife fight as part of their anti knife crime campaign, they performed a scene from Shank.

The young students involved have been deeply moved by the knife crime issues effecting youths in London and the UK at the moment and have decided to speak out with their dramatic stunt.

In 1995, researchers recorded 84,000 of knife related cases, falling to 29,000 in 2005-06, but rising to 38,000 only two years later.

Evidence of a more steady growth in stabbings was detected by a home affairs select committee investigation that found "assaults by sharp objects" rose more than 30% in the decade from 1997.

Released on DVD this week Shank is a British movie directed by Mo Ali and is a movie that is set in a decaying future London. A gang set out on a chase to avenge the murder of one of their own.
