The Blind Side Topples New Moon

The Blind Side has jumped over New Moon to land the number one spot in the U.S. this week.
The movie sees Sandra Bullock return to the big screen, the latter part of 2009 has been a busy year for the actress, in a dramatic role for the star.
The film tells the story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, who is taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential.
At the same time, Oher's presence in the Touhys' lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own.
Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome.
As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle.
After reigning over the box office New Moon had to settle for the number two spot this week as it grossed a further $15.7 million.
Brothers, which brings together Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman was a new entry at three, while animation A Christmas Carol jumped one place from five to four.
Wrapping up the top five was comedy Old Dogs which dropped one place from last week's number four.
Armored was another new entry at six which brings together a great ensemble cast of Matt Dillon, Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne.
Robert De Niro was back on the big screen this week as her new comedy Everybody's Fine, which was a new entry at ten.
