C.S. Lewis' 'The Magician's Nephew' will be the focus of the next 'The Chronicles of Narnia' film and not 'The Silver Chair' as some had expected.

A fourth 'Chronicles of Narnia' film is to be made, based on the C.S. Lewis novel 'The Magician's Nephew'.

It was originally thought 'The Silver Chair' would be the basis for the next movie in the franchise, but Walden Media co-founder Michael Flaherty has now confirmed there has been a change of plans.

If we can all agree to move forward, then what we would do is find someone to write the script. So it could still be a couple of years.

Speaking to The Christian Post, he said: "We are starting to talk to Fox and talk to C.S. Lewis estate now about the 'Magician's Nephew' being our next film.

Some fans were concerned the previous instalment, 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader' - starring Ben Barnes and Georgie Henley - did not make enough money at the box office, having only taken $403.8 million compared to 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe which made $745 million worldwide.

However, discussing the last film, Michael said it did better than many think and people behind the scenes were happy with its success.

He added: "That one was a slow burn. It took a while for it to catch on. It did much better overseas for us but it finally ended up in a good place."
