Christian Bale has had quite a year picking up his first Oscar for his superb performance in The Fighter as well as returning to the role of Batman with Christopher Nolan.

But before we seen him in The Dark Knight Rises, which will hit big screens next summer, he is set to star in The Flowers of War.

Hero and House of Flying Daggers filmmaker Zhang Yimou is back in the director's chair for this project - which sees Bale head the cast.

The movie follows Chinese sex workers in 1937 volunteer to replace university students as escorts for invading Japanese soldiers.

Bale is set to play an American priest who is trying to provide a hospice of the citizens of Nanjing.
