Producer Dances With Duvall For Film Role.Movie producer DAVID SACHS found a novel way of persuading movie veteran ROBERT DUVALL to star in low-budget new indie film THANK YOU FOR SMOKING - he had his mother collect the autographs of his dancing idols.Sachs discovered THE GODFATHER star shared his mother's love for the tango and so asked her to help him snag Duvall, who plays the scheming president of a tobacco company in the film.The producer explains, "He was in South America doing tango, which is his passion now. My mom is obsessed with tango as well. She had a friend down in Argentina who she had tangoed with who we got to deliver Duvall a book of tango. He was touched by that."CHRISTOPHER BUCKLEY, who wrote the novel the film is based on, was thrilled with Sachs' clever way of recruiting Duvall.He adds, "There were autographs in the book by the leading tango dancers.
