The Other Guys

The Other Guys

The Other Guys has held off strong competition from Julia Roberts' new movie Eat Pray Love to keep hold of the number one spot at the UK box office.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's comp comedy, which is directed by Adam McKay, grossed a further £1.29 million this weekend to hold of Eat Pray Love's challenge, as it took £1.16 million.

Julia Roberts takes on the role of author Elizabeth Gilbert as her memoir of the same name is adapted for the big screen.

The movie, which is directed by Ryan Murphy, follows a married woman realizes how unhappy her marriage really is, and that her life needs to go in a different direction.

After a painful divorce, she takes off on a round-the-world journey to "find herself".

Despite topping the box office and winning rave reviews Ben Affleck's new movie The Town could only manage third, however it took just over £1 million over the weekend.

The third and final new entry on the chart this week came in at number four in the form of The Hole while Devil dropped three places from number two to round off the top five.

There was a two place drop for Toy Story 3 and Grown Ups as they ended the week at six and seven. But this week's biggest faller was Resident Evil: Afterlife as it was down five places from three to eight.

Tamara Drewe was down three at nine while Marmaduke rounded off the top ten having dropped two places from last week's number eight.
