Principal photography on the latest marvel movie Thor has got underway.
Starring Chris Hemsworth in the title role the movie follows the reckless actions of Thor who ignites an ancient war.
As punishment for his actions he is banished to earth to live amongst the humans. But whilst on earth he learns of his enemies’ plan to invade earth.
The movie boasts an impressive cast of Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgård.
Kenneth Branagh is behind the camera for the project in his first big budget blockbuster, he is returning to the director’s chair for the first time since Sleuth in 2007.
However the project hasn’t been without it’s issues in recent days after Stuart Townsend left the project just days before shooting began.
Townsend left over creative differences and Joshua Dallas, from The Descent Part 2, is set to replace him as Fandral.
Thor is expected to be released May 2011.
