Tom Hardy is rumoured to be in early talks to play George Mallory.
According to Deadline Doug Liman is getting ready to direct movie Everest - which will follows Mallory's expedition to climb the mountain in the 1920s.
The movie is based on the book Paths of Glory Jeffrey Archer the script has been penned by Sheldon Turner who wrote the screenplay for Up In The Air.
Mallory failed on two occasions to reach the top of Everest and disappeared with his climbing partner Andrew "Sandy" Irvine during the third attempt - whether he reached the top is still a matter of great debate.
In 1999 his remains were found below the summit but Irvine's body has never been found.
We have seen Hardy on the big screen in The Dark Knight Rises and Lawless already this summer and the actor is currently filming Mad Max: Fury Road - in which he will take on the role of Max Rockatansky.
