Tom Waits is to play the devil in a new film.The singer has taken on the role in Terry Gilliam's 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus'.The movie features the last role of the late Heath Ledger, who was still filming his part when he died of an accidental drugs overdose in January.Johny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell have taken over various aspects of Heath's character, playing him in different scenarios.Tom said: "I am the Devil in 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' - not a devil, the Devil. I don't know why Gilliam thought of me. I was raised in the church."Gilliam is an impresario, captain, magician, a dictator (a nice one), a genius, and a man you'd want in the boat with you at the end of the world."Christopher Plummer stars in the movie is Dr. Parnassus and Tom also had praise for him.He said: "Christopher Plummer is one of the greatest actors on earth. Mostly I watch and learn. He's a real movie star and a gentleman."
'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' is due for release next year.
