Tommy Lee Jones Plans Violent Film.TOMMY LEE JONES is hoping to follow up his directorial debut on THE THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIDAES ESTRADA by turning CORMAC McCARTHY's ultra-violent BLOOD MERIDIAN into a new movie.The actor was hired to write a screenplay based on the book, but the film has since been shelved because movie executives feared it was too violent. He explains, "Sony Pictures hired me to write a screenplay from the book. I told them it would be an absolutely true adaptation of the book. They said, 'Fine, go ahead.' "They gave me some money, and within a year I gave them an awfully good screenplay, which they then said was far too violent."
