Tropic Thunder Still Tops American Box Office

Despite causing a little bit of controversy upon release Ben Stiller's tropic Thunder, which also stars Robert Downey Jr and Jack Black, has topped the US box office for the third week.The film held off stiff competition, in what was a quiet week in terms of box office gross, from Vin Diesel's new sci-fi adventure Babylon A.D.Diesel's new film, which follows veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. Little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah, had to settle with the number two spot.The Dark Knight up back up one place from four to three and last week's number two The House Bunny fell two places from two to four.Traitor, which stars Don Cheadle and looks at crooked dealings in the CIA, was a new entry at number five.The only other new entry came in at number seven in the form of spoof film Disaster Movie, these movies have so often proved popular regularly topping the box office.Woody Allen's new film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which stars Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson, rounded off the top ten for a second week.
