Tropic Thunder Dominates UK Box Office

Despite causing controversy in the States Ben Stiller's comedy Tropic Thunder has stormed to the top of the UK box office as fans came out in support of the actors at the London premiere.The film follows Stiller, Robert Downey Jr and Jack Black as a bunch of hapless actors shooting a Vietnam biopic which turns dangerously real when they are dropped deep into the jungle.Grossing £2.48 million Tropic Thunder was the only film to break the £1 million barrier and grossed nearly three times more than it's nearest rival.And it's nearest rival was Mamma Mia which continued it's impressive run sticking at the number two spot The Women moved up one place from four to round off the top three.Last week's number one Pineapple Express fell three places to number four after just one week at the top while The Duchess held onto the number five spot.World War II drama The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas enjoyed better success this week moving up two places from eight to six. But Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla was this week's biggest faller dropping four places from three to seven. 1 Tropic Thunder - £2.48 million
