Tropic Thunder Holds off Taken at UK Box Office

Despite tough competition from Taken Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder remains top of the UK box office for a second week consecutive week.Taken, which stars Liam Neeson as a former CIA agent travels through Europe to find his kidnapped daughter, was held down in the number two spot and the top two movies were the only films that broke the £1 million barrier this weekend.Reuniting Robert De Niro with Al Pacino for the first time since Heat has proved to be a box office success as the film rounded off the top three.Brit actor Jason Statham enjoyed further box office success with his new movie Death Race, a remake of the 1975 film Death Race 2000, was at four while Mamma Mia's stronghold on the number two spot loosened as it fell to five.There were no other new entries inside the top ten but The Women dropped three places from three to six The Duchess also dropped three places from five to eight.This week's biggest mover was Seth Rogan's Pineapple Express which fell from number four to number nine with Disaster Movie rounding off the top ten.Tropic Thunder - £1,345,392
