Pixar's latest movie Up has topped the UK box office in impressive style as it opened to a £6.4 million gross beating Ice Age 3 to become the biggest opening for an animation this year.
Up is a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America.
But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.
Zombieland bagged the second spot with a £1.2 million gross, a long way behind Up, having enjoyed topping the U.S. box office just weeks ago.
Fame, which has held the top spot for two weeks dropped three places to four while The Invention of Lying dropped just one to finish at three.
There was another new entry at five as Love Happens for Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart as they rounded off the top five.
Halloween II was the fourth new entry inside the top ten as it finished the weekend at number six.
There were three place drops for Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Surrogates and District 9, the latter enjoying it's fifth week inside the top ten.
