Up comfortably held onto the top spot as it held off competition from comedy Couples Retreat, which sees Vince Vaughn return to the big screen.
The Pixar movie has been met with rave reviews and has already topped the box office in America. Grossing another £5 million this week Up has taken over $549 million at the global box office so far.
Despite grossing £1.8 million this weekend Vince Vaughn's Couples Retreat had to settle for the second spot.
The movie centres around four couples who settle into a tropical-island resort for a vacation. While one of the couples is there to work on the marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort's therapy sessions is not optional.
There was another new entry at three in the form of fantasy movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the final movie from Heath Ledger.
The actor died in the middle of filming but director terry Gilliam enlisted the help of Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law to complete the picture.
Ricky Gervais' The Invention of Lying fell one place to number four while Zombieland dropped three places from two to five.
There was another new entry at seven in the form of Triangle while this week's biggest faller was Jennifer Aniston's latest romantic comedy which dropped four places from five to nine.
