Zac Efron has revealed that he doesn't like watching himself on the big screen because he picks out all the flaws in his performance.
The High School Musical star is back in action later this year with his new movie Charlie St Cloud, based on the 2004 Ben Sherwood novel, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.
But it seems that the actor is his own biggest critic and admits that it takes a long time for his to appreciate the work that he has done.
Speaking to ContactMusic the actor said: "As far as watching myself on screen, I tend to, especially the first time around, pick out every single flaw, or things I could have and should have done better.
"I don't know why, but I tend to dwell on those things. I'm more of a cringer, at first. And then, when it's years down the road and it's out of the way, I can look back and appreciate it somehow."
The actor shot to fame playing Troy Bolton in the High School Musical series before moving onto 17 Again and now his new movie Charlie St Cloud.
And Efron reveals that it's fellow actor Leonardo DiCaprio who has been his biggest inspiration.
"I think Leo is a guy that's been through all this. I'm sure he knows how this felt, at one point or another, and he just continued. He persevered and stuck to his guns, and went through the best and the worst of times.
"He made cool movies, and some that didn't work so well. Regardless, he's doing it and he's survived and, just now, he's starting to make some of the coolest movies of his career."
Charlie St Cloud is released 8th October.
