Zombieland Blasts Way To U.S. #1

Zombieland took a bit out of the American box office this weekend as it easily swept to the number one spot. toppling animation movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

The film, which stars Woody Harrelson, grossed $25 million in it's opening weekend to easily make it the number one movie.

Two men have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss -- but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-totin', zombie-slayin' badass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth.

As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatball's grasp on the number one spot was finally weakened this week and it had to settle for the number two spot, however it did gross a further $16.7 million.

While Toy Story 3D and Toy Story 2 3D were a new entry at three as they grossed $12.5 million, fourteen years after the original Pixar movie was first released.

Ricky Gervais' new movie The Invention of Lying could only manage fourth while Drew Barrymore's directorial debut opened in sixth.

After just three weeks on the chart it was another drop for romantic comedy Love Happens as it hung onto the top ten in tenth.
