Taylor took over the Thor franchise from Kenneth Branagh in 2013 and was at the helm for Thor: The Dark World. He has revealed that he had to collaborate a lot of on the project and it become a 'different movie' in post production.

Speaking to Uproxx, the director said: "I've done two [blockbusters] and I've learned that you don't make a $170 million movie with someone else's money and not have to collaborate a lot.

"The Marvel experience was particularly wrenching because I was sort of given absolute freedom while we were shooting, and then in post it turned into a different movie."

Thor: The Dark World, which was the second Marvel film to hit the big screen after the huge success of Avengers Assemble in 2012, went on to gross over $644 million at the global box office - it is currently the sixth highest grossing Marvel movie to date.

Taylor is back in the blockbuster director's chair this week as he makes his return with Terminator Genisys.

Terminator Genisys is the first feature for Taylor since Thor: The Dark World and it is the fifth film in the popular franchise. The film sees him team up with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Jai Courtney.

This is the first Terminator film since Terminator Salvation back in 2009, however, the movie is already struggling with the critics.

Terminator Genisys is out now.
