Amy Adams

Amy Adams has called working on The Master as a 'career high'.

The actress teamed up with Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman and director Paul Thomas Anderson for the movie last year - that was a huge critical hit.

The actress collected the Cinema Vanguard Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival where she spoke about the film and working with Anderson.

Speaking to the Press Association on the red carpet the actress said: "It's kind of a career high.

"He's such a visionary and such an artist, and he had such a specific vision for this role and for this film, and I was just proud to be a part of it."

For her role Adams has picked up her fourth Oscar nomination as she bagged a Best Supporting Actress nod.

There were also Oscar nods for both Hoffman and Phoenix but the film did miss out on a Best Picture nomination.

The next time we see Adams on the big screen she will be stepping into the superhero blockbuster as she takes on the role of Lois Lane in the new Superman film Man of Steel.
