Schwarzenegger is reprising his most iconic role this week as he leads an all-star cast in Terminator Genysis, the fifth film in the popular franchise.

The actor reveals that he would only come back to the franchise if the story was 'great' and admits that he really enjoyed the script when he read it.

Speaking to Screen Rant, the actor said: Well, I always said that I would do another Terminator if the story is great. I think I really enjoyed this story when I read it. I think the people that were involved made me feel like I think this is going to be a good movie and they're going to go all out with the project.

"It's not just kind of like, 'Let's exploit this franchise and live off some of the great ones that were done in the past.' They really took it seriously. They really figured out a way of continuing on the story and kind of ignoring the last one, basically."

We see a very different relationship between the Terminator and Sarah Connor this time around as Schwarzenegger teams up with Emilia Clarke - who is playing Sarah for the first time.

Schwarzenegger and Clarke are joined on the cast list by Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, and J.K. Simmons, while Alan Taylor is back in the director's chair for the first time since Thor: The Dark World.

It is going to be a busy summer for Schwarzenegger as he is also set to star in horror/thriller Maggie, alongside Abigail Breslin and Joely Richardson.

Maggie hits the big screen at the end of the month and sees Schwarzenegger play a father who tries to protect his daughter as she succumbs to a disease that will turn her into a zombie.

Terminator Genisys is out now.
