Affleck is set to take on the role of Bruce Wayne for the first time this weekend as he star alongside Henry Cavill in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is set to be one of the biggest movies of the year.

The actor was on the red carpet in London this week for the European premiere of the blockbuster film where he talked about how excited he is for the film and how important it was to create a Batman that was different to what had gone before.

Speaking at the premiere about the role, the actor said: "It's fabulous. It's an honour. It's exciting. I feel honoured, grateful and overwhelmed. It is a dream. Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale made three great movies that immediately preceded this and other great talents have done it.

"It was very daunting and we wanted to do something that was different to make it our own because we didn't just want to copy the great stuff that those guys had done. We worked very hard and I am really proud of the movie. It was a great cast, a great director, and a great script and I am excited for the fans to get to see the movie this weekend."

Dawn of Justice is the first time that we have seen Affleck on the big screen since the success of Gone Girl as he teams up with Cavill and director Zack Snyder for the first time.

Dawn of Justice is the sequel to Man of Steel and will also help set the foundations for the upcoming Justice League film, which Snyder is set to direct.

As for Affleck, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will not be the only appearance for him as Bruce Wayne this year, as he is set to pop up in a cameo role in Suicide Squad later this summer.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is out now.
