Ben Affleck says that he does have regrets about his role in Daredevil, but says Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is a totally different project.

Affleck will be introduced as Bruce Wayne for the first time in Dawn of Justice, but his casting was met by some major criticism from comic book fans.

The actor says that he does understand people's concern about his casting as Batman, but insists that they are not remaking Daredevil with this project.

Speaking on NRP's All Things Considered, the actor said: "Indeed I have regrets about Daredevil. Look, if I thought we were remaking Daredevil, I'd be out there picketing myself.

"I’m hard on myself and I have exacting standards and I want to do excellent work and I don't always succeed, but I think you have to start out with that drive."

Dawn of Justice will see Affleck team up with director Zack Snyder for the first time, while Henry Cavill will reprise the role of Superman.

This is the sequel to Man of Steel, and will also re-introduce us to the characters of Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman; played by Jesse Eisenberg and Gal Gadot.

Since the failure of Daredevil back in 2003, Affleck has reinvented himself as an award winning director and changed the direction of his acting roles.

Affleck is currently sitting at the top of the U.S. box office with Gone Girl, which is being tipped as a possible Oscar contender.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March 2016.
