Affleck took on the role of Bryce Wayne for the first time earlier this year in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for the first time.

We are going to see him reprise the role in Justice League Part 1 before going on to a solo film. And the actor has hinted that the story would not be based on a well-known arc from the comics.

Speaking on the red carpet to Cines Argentinos, the actor said: "I think what I would do is probably, I would probably do in some ways what Zack did with this movie, which is to borrow certain things from the great comic books, but create an original story around it.

"Because I wouldn't want the fans to already know the story and be familiar with it, but I would borrow, and steal, great things that have been done before in the comics."

There's no word on when we may see the Batman film hit the big screen and it looks like Affleck will direct the film as well as star.

Dawn of Justice has been a huge commercial hit - going on to gross over $871 million at the global box office - but struggled critically.

We are going to see Affleck reprise the role later this summer in Suicide Squad and filming on The Justice League is already underway.

The film will see Zack Snyder back in the director's chair while Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Ezra Miller, and Jeremy Irons are also on board.

2016 has already been a busy year for the actor as he has completed work on The Accountant and Live by Night.

The Accountant sees Affleck work with filmmaker Gavin O'Connor for the first time, while he will be in the director's chair himself for Live By Night.

The movie is based on a Dennis Lehane novel and has been adapted for the big screen by Affleck, who will also star in the film alongside Zoe Saldana and Elle Fanning.
