Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that all of the nice comments that he received on the red carpet from fans and co-stars made him cry.

The British actor is one of the exciting new additions to the Star Trek Into Darkness cast list and his performance has been winning over critics and fans.

But Cumberbatch has admitted that he has been very moved by the reception and the praise that he has received.

Speaking to Access Hollywood the actor said: "When I heard them saying nice things on the red carpet... that was the thing that really struck [me] to my core, and it got to a point - it was like a tipping point, I'd say - where I was signing something [and] I heard Zachary [Quinto] saying something very complimentary about me and I started to cry.

"I was looking down and signing and this fan said, 'Are you okay?' I said, 'Yeah, it's really windy out here, my eyes are stinging'."

Cumberbatch takes on the role of John Harrison in the movie as J.J. Abrams is in the director's chair.

Chris Evan, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana are back while Alice Eve was another of the new faces.

2013 is set to be a huge year for Cumberbatch as we are going to be seeing him star in Twelve Years A Slave, August: Osage Country, The Fifth Estate and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Star Trek Into Darkness is out now.
