The movie has now taken £10 million in the UK alone and comfortably saw off the challenge from action movie Run All Night.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which sees Judi Dench and Maggie Smith reprising their roles from the first film, took a further £1.4 million as film fans continue to flock to see the film.

Run All Night marks the return of Liam Neeson to the big screen, but he had to settle for second place at the end off the film's opening weekend. However, the highest new entry inside the top ten this week failed to pass the £1 million barrier.

Focus was down a single place this week from two to three, while Suite Francaise was the second and final new entry inside the top ten this week.

Fifty Shades of Grey has taken over $546 million at the global box office, but it was down two places to round off the top five.

Chappie was down two at six, while Still Alice was the only film that was on the up. The movie, which saw Julianne Moore win the Best Actress Oscar, was up just a single place from eight to seven.

Big Hero 6 fell from five to eight, while Kingsman: The Secret Service had a two place fall from seven to nine. Shaun the Sheep Movie was the biggest faller this week, down four places from six to ten.
